EYLL Policy on Game Reschedules
Baseball and Softball are outdoor sports. The weather will impact completing scheduled games. EYLL is a league of
42 teams playing on 3 fields. The schedule keeper is well aware of the desire of all teams to play their games at the beautiful Hanratty and Sissleman fields. Unfortunately, that is not possible and therefore all
teams are expected to play an appropriate portion of their games in Warinanco Park.
The critical element of the reschedule is COMMUNICATION
. The league needs to have a prompt yes or no to the rescheduled games. This is critical to making sure we keep our games on Hanratty and Sissleman. If you can't play, perhaps we can put another game in the slot.
The process is as follows:
- The EYLL scheduler will email the team manager along with the coaching staff of both teams.
- Within 48 hours we expect both managers to confirm or reject the date and time.
- After 48 hours, EYLL will consider the game confirmed by default.
If we get to #3 then we have created a situation where the game may not be played, since one or both team managers failed to
confirm. Once we have a default confirmed game, the division coordinator will have to contact the non-compliant team manager to inform them that the game is rescheduled. The list of default games is
posted on our site. Click here, then click the "Grumpy" tile to view the PDF report of default confirmed games. Please call those managers and please notify them of the game update.
This league is about playing the game and it is important that everyone involved in running the league work together to play
it. The only way this process will work is if the Team Managers remain diligent in their timely response to the EYLL Schedule Keeper. Every individual team schedule is posted with confirmation details on
rescheduled games. The rescheduled game summary will also show the status of confirmations with regards to these games.
Baseball and Softball are team sports. Similarly running the Elmora Youth League is a team effort
among staff, coaches, and parents. We need a team effort when it comes to communication of schedules. The team managers need to be vigilant about the status of their games and communicate with their
opponent manager on unconfirmed rescheduled games. If a team manager has not confirmed a game, please do not bring your team to the field expecting a forfeit win. We are not about creating situations
where wins are awarded for not playing the game. We publish their phone numbers in our league book, please pick up the phone and call your opponent to make sure they plan to attend a rescheduled game.
This is the only way we can overcome communication breakdowns.
The division coordinator will be requested to phone call the managers if we are
within 7 days of the rescheduled game date.
A comment about the role of the TEAM COACHES. Please note that the schedule keeper includes the team coaches on the
e-mails as a courtesy only. The schedule keeper does NOT accept their input on schedules and reschedules. The team coach should share their issues on the schedule with their team manager. The
schedule keeper does not wish to have several points of contact on each team therefore the schedule keeper only deals with the Team Manager. The Team Manager is responsible for the entire operation of
the team, that person is the Head Coach and Head Administrator of the team.
Thank you for your Full Cooperation and understanding with this process.
